The Cal State Fullerton Titans and UCF Knights will play a college basketball game this Thursday night at Addition Financial Arena. The two teams have had very different results in their previous games, with Cal State Fullerton looking to build on its first win of the season and UCF eager to bounce back from its first loss.

Cal State Fullerton seeks momentum

The Cal State Fullerton Titans will be looking to ride the momentum of a convincing 78-48 win over division rival La Sierra in their last game. Max Jones leads the Titans in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game (PPG) and five rebounds per game (RPG), while DJ Bruton contributes 13.5 points per game and a team-high six assists per game (APG), and Donovan O’Day averages 12.5 points per game, with all three scoring in double figures. Grayson Carper leads the Titans with 8.5 rebounds per game. As a team, Cal State Fullerton is averaging 67.5 points per game, shooting 42 percent from the field, 25.5 percent from three-point range and 58 percent from the free throw line.

Cal State Fullerton Titans Look to Extend Winning Streak, UCF Knights Seek to Rebound from First Loss

UCF Knights Seek Redemption

The UCF Knights are looking to redeem themselves from their first loss of the season after falling to the Miami Hurricanes 88-72 in their last game. Jaylin Sellers is averaging 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game to lead UCF in both scoring and rebounding, while he is also contributing 2.5 steals per game (SPG). Darius Johnson is the only other Knight averaging in double figures, contributing 14 points, three rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Niels Machowski contributes nine points and Shemarie Allen leads the team with three assists. Overall, UCF is averaging 78.5 points per game, shooting 45.2 percent from the field, 27.3 percent from three-point range and 67.6 percent from the free throw line.

Prediction.

While Cal State Fullerton has shown potential, their inconsistent play against tough opponents is a concern. In contrast, Cal State Fullerton has been more consistent and competitive, even in their loss to Miami. Considering their recent performance and UCF’s overall strength, I predict a double-digit win for the Knights.
