MANKATO — In a conference clash, the Martin Luther College men’s soccer team suffered a comprehensive defeat to Bethany, with a final score of 7-0 on Wednesday evening.

The Knights had aimed to level the season series with their arch-rivals but struggled to contain the relentless attacks from the Vikings.

Bethany outshot MLC by a staggering margin of 39-3, including a remarkable 24-0 in shots on target. The Vikings wasted no time, as they capitalized on a penalty kick in the sixth minute, setting the tone for the rest of the game.

In the first period, Bethany added four more goals to their tally and then found the back of the net twice within the first 10 minutes of the second period.

Furthermore, Bethany’s dominance extended to set pieces, as they created numerous high-quality chances from 14 corner kicks and maintained ball possession for the majority of the 90-minute match.
